Common Questions

How Your Support Makes an Impact

How is Meals on Wheels Pasco funded? +

We are a community-funded organization that operates without government funding. We rely strictly on the generosity of our neighbors and partners. Our funding comes through gifts, fundraisers, and grants from local, regional, and state-level organizations, as well as vital contributions from churches, nearby local businesses, memorial gifts, and kind individuals like you.

How much of my donation goes directly to seniors? +

We pride ourselves on financial efficiency. Approximately 90% of every dollar donated goes directly toward the purchase, preparation, and delivery of meals for homebound seniors in Pasco County.

The remaining 10% provides essential program support to ensure those meals are delivered safely and reliably. This includes maintaining our delivery fleet and kitchen equipment, upholding strict safety standards, specialized driver training, and the outreach efforts necessary to keep our program sustainable for years to come.

Because we do not receive government funding, we keep our overhead costs as low as possible to ensure that your generosity has the maximum impact on our clients.

Does my money stay in Pasco County? +

Yes. All donations made to Meals on Wheels Pasco stay right here in our community to serve our local residents.

How do I make a donation? +

Because we do not receive government funding, every donation is vital to our mission. You can support us in the following ways:

Online: The quickest way to give is through our secure online donation portal. You can make a one-time gift or set up a recurring monthly donation using a credit or debit card. Click here to Donate Online.

In Person: We always enjoy meeting our supporters. You can drop off your donation at our office during regular business hours.

By Mail: We gratefully accept checks or money orders.

Can I set up a recurring monthly donation? +

Absolutely. Monthly giving is the most effective way to provide consistent support. You can select the "Recurring Donation" option on our online donation form to automatically support our seniors year-round.

Can I include Meals on Wheels in my estate plan? +

Legacy gifts ensure that Pasco County seniors are fed for generations to come. If you are interested in including us in your estate planning, please contact our office at (813) 782-7859 for a confidential discussion.

Can I donate food? +

Yes! We gratefully accept donations of most non-perishable goods to help supplement the needs of our seniors. We will accept:

Canned Food: Soups, vegetables, fruits, and proteins such as tuna or chicken.
Grains: Rice, pasta, and oats.
Dry Goods: Cereal, crackers, granola bars, and peanut butter.

Food donations can be brought directly to our office.

What are "in-kind" donations? +

While cash donations are vital to our daily operations, we also rely heavily on in-kind contributions — items, goods, or services other than cash grants — to enhance our mission and reach more seniors in need.

Vehicle Donations: Through our partnership with the CARS Program of Meals on Wheels America, supporters can donate almost any vehicle — cars, trucks, boats, or RVs. Click here to donate your vehicle.

Services: Marketing and advertising, photocopy and mail services, and administrative support.

Expertise: Pro-bono legal, tax, or business advice; marketing and website development; social media support; and strategic planning assistance.

To discuss a potential in-kind donation, please call our office at 813-782-7859.

Can I donate my time instead of money? +

Absolutely! At Meals on Wheels Pasco, our volunteers are the heart and soul of what we do. Your gift of time ensures that no senior in our community has to face hunger or isolation alone.

Delivery Driver: Use your own vehicle to deliver hot meals to seniors — the most rewarding role, providing the friendly wellness check our neighbors look forward to every day.
Ride-Along Partner: Not ready to drive? Join a driver to help navigate and bring meals from the car to the front door.
Kitchen & Pantry Helper: Help our culinary team portion meals, pack delivery bags, or organize our pantry.
Donation Pickup: Help us collect food and supply donations from local corporate partners around Pasco County.

Ready to join the team? View our Volunteer Opportunities or call us at 813-782-7859.

Is my donation tax-deductible? +

Yes. Meals on Wheels Pasco is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Will I receive a receipt for my records? +

Yes. For online gifts, an email receipt is sent instantly. For checks, a formal receipt is mailed to you once the gift is processed.
